Education and Outreach

We normally host a series of educational outreach program for almost any age group. Last year we had approximately 400 such programs from junior school to college students and general public. In addition, we always welcome you to visit our lab, anytime, and we will show you around.

John Perlin's Vanguard and Solar Energy Section   Science fiction had long considered solar cells as standard equipment for powering satellites. It seems Arthur C. Clarke, the renowned science fiction writer, first came up with the idea. Back in 1945 Clarke came up with the idea of three space stations to provide a worldwide communications network. Improvements in solar-electric devices would make it possible for these satellites to have continuous power in space....

Explore the solar energy and its power! (Recommended for everyone!)

Symmetry and Aesthetics in Contemporary Physics   This is the first quarter of an introductory interdisciplinary physics course that is based on symmetry and contemporary physics, and provides a good foundation for a more in-depth treatment of cosmology.

Presented by College of Creative Studies (CCS) and Experimental Cosmology, as a 5 unit course in CCS.

Planck General Educational Materials    General overview of the mission: science objectives, orbital parameters, and scientific instruments, followed by a tutorial on understanding the CMB Power Spectrum and Polarization.
